I hope my entire year will be as fun as New Year (you know, the way you spend the New Year is the way you're whole year is going to be like). My little brother came to Dublin for Christmas and together with couple of friends we went to Waterford. I was the only driver so came back totally exhausted. We visited a lot of places and these pictures was taken at the Hook Head where we've seen the oldest working lighthouse in the world. I didn't wear anything fancy, just comfortable clothes. I was the only female not wearing high heals in a club in New Year eve!

After Halloween I discovered a true love for wigs. The blue one I wore for New Year is my second one. I now want something pink and blond.

London is my love from first sight. Our weekend trip was a birthday gift for K. We went there only for 2 days but I'm definitely coming back. I didn't take a lot of clothes with me. I fitted a t-shirt for sleeping, t-shirt for next day and underwear in my handbag. We wanted it to be relaxing and light. We run from one place to another. I joke that I've spent more time in the tube than outside. Dublin welcomed us with a rain. I don't want to go back yet...

Londyn to moja miłość od pierwszego wejrzenia. Weekendowa wycieczka była prezentem urodzinowym dla K. Pojechaliśmy tylko na 2 dni, ale na pewno tam wrócę. Nie zabrałam dużo ubrań. Koszulka do spania, koszulka na zmianę i bielizna zmieściły się w torebce. Miało być na luzie i lekko. Biegałyśmy z jednego miejsca do drugiego. Żartuję, że więcej czasu spędziłyśmy w metrze niż na zewnątrz. Dublin przywitał wielkim deszczem. Nie chcę jeszcze wracać...

Barbeque

I'm already back in Dublin. While walking through the dirty streets I recall the sun and a blue sky. At the last weekend we had a family barbeque in the garden. I wore my latest secondhand finds - thick t-shirt and perfectly fitting jeans. It supposed to be comfortable and protect my skin from mosquitoes.

As you can see from the quality of the pictures I still didn't buy a new camera. I can't reconcile with the fact that it had been stolen from me. I hate thefts!

And of course from now on you can 'Like me' on fb.

Jestem już z powrotem w Dublinie. Spacerując brudnymi ulicami wspominam słońce i niebieskie niebo.Miało być wygodnie i chronić przed komarami. Ubrałam moje najnowsze lumpeksowe znaleziska - grubą bawełnianą bluzkę i idealnie leżące spodnie.

Jak widać, wciąż nie kupiłam nowego aparatu. Wciąż nie mogę pogodzić się z faktem, że został ukradziony. Nienawidzę złodziei!

A co do nowego regulaminu na polskich szafach - wcale nie przeszkadza mi wasz 'spam'. Jeśli w swoim komentarzu chcecie dodać linka do waszego bloga to śmiało. Jeśli nie podoba mi się czyjś komentarz mogę go po prostu usunąć. A do tego czasu, jak to zwykł mówić pewien Owsiak - róbta co chceta. Posty to moja sprawa, komentarze - wasza. Czepialstwo nie leży w mojej naturze.

I oczywiście od dziś możecie mnie 'Lubić' na fb.

Woodstock Festival

Judging by the pictures taken during this year's Woodstock Festival, I've spent it relaxing in a front of my tent. To be honest, I was waking up only for the evening concerts. During the day I was either sleeping, eating or reading a book - 'The girl with the dragon tattoo' by Stieg Larsson. I needed a quiet, sunny holiday with my family and friends. I didn't take a lot of clothes with me. After all it's not a catwalk so I had only few comfortable pieces. My skin is almost never exposed to such amount of sunlight so it got burnt during the first few hours in the sun.

Sądząc po zdjęciach, spędziłam cały Przystanek Woodstock relaksując się przy namiocie. Prawdę mówiąc budziłam się tylko na wieczorne koncerty.Podczas dnia spałam, jadłam lub czytałam książkę - 'Dziewczyna z tatuażem smoka' Stiega Larssona. Potrzebowałam cichych, słonecznych wakacji z rodziną i przyjaciółmi. Nie wzięłam ze sobą zbyt wielu ubrań.W końcu to nie wybieg, więc miałam tylko kilka tych najwygodniejszych. Moja skóra prawie nigdy nie jest wystawiona na działanie promieni słonecznych, więc spaliłam się na raka już w ciągu pierwszych godzin.

Braveheart

This weekend I spent with a friend in Trim. We went to see a castle famous for being starred in Mel Gibson's 'Braveheart'. Unfortunatelly, Irish weather is unpredictable so after taking a few shots we had to run away from a heavy rain. We hoped for a sunny 2 days but it was anyway worth to go there. The only question is - where's the famous 'the hottest Irish summer in a century'? I'm going to Poland soon anyway so I'll have a lot of it.

The summer sales are almost over but I didn't even notice them. I only bought shoes in Clarks - not too fancy but so comfortable. After finishing my exams (the very exciting accounting) I was going to do nothing until late autumn but I just have too much energy. I decided to take a second job and came back to the best team in the world. I now divide my time between running from one part of Dublin to the other, I work on new projects for my shop (I'm going to close Malina Studio and open second shop with different name), travel as much as possible and try to do 1000 other thinks I now have time for. I'm also looking forward for the best holidays with my family and few other things I'm going to start after my return. Life's sweet!

I've spent a busy weekend with my friends in Bray. Because I'm a total coward I didn't ride on all the crazy carousels. I was sick by only looking at them. Feels like home

I like to come back home and see and use all my favourite things. I can walk around and the house is full of little treasuries that we collected over the years. The one above is my granny's old grinder. I don't really use it and it needs cleaning but I like to have it. It's one of my most precious things.

That's my pyjama. It's Kris blouse but I use it at night when it's cold.

I made this little green monster for Kris to hang in his car. Well, he doesn't like things hanging in a front of him when his driving so it found its place on a bedroom door with a dream catcher.

That's a fat angel made by my artistic brother. It lost it's wings on the way from Dublin to Co. Galway and I never found a time to stick them back on. One day...

And our collection of different cups. We brought them from our travels around the world and one day they'll be all displayed on a huge shelf in our house. We promised each other to not collect not needed stuff but we can't stop buying these cups.

And to not forget about a picture of myself - it's us playing Catchphrase. We did well since we're Polish and it's so American :) I was in Poland with my family a few weeks ago and after coming back got a flu and spend a week in a bed. It was good to finally go out, relax and spend some time with a friends, good food and wine. I didn't wear anything special. Just white top, black shorts, tights and jewellery.

I'll need to amend this dress to fit me perfectly as it's a bit too wide but I'm very happy with this purchase. It has a lovely heart neckline, peplum waist and is made from black velvet. I'm going to wear it to work with matching cardigan and pearl necklace, and in the evening with some sparkling accessories.

New Year's Resolutions

I always make a lists in a small notebook I keep in my handbag. A lists of places and restaurants I'm going to visit, a books I'm going to read, a movies I'm going to see and gifts I'm going to give. A New Year's Resolutions list is something I keep for the next few years to come back to it and check what I really did and what I forgot about. Some points are coming back, some are quickly marked as done. That's my short list for this year:

1. I'll learn how to make a proper cupcakes and baking. This book will help me with that. Also how to cook and not poison myself and the others.

2. I'll invest in more expensive, but longer lasting clothes. Maybe Chanel bag? Instead of buying something new from a high street shop, I'll choose a beautiful vintage piece. Like this amazing velvet dress from Q's Daydream (it's already in my hands and tomorrow will be shortened to suit me better).
3. I'll always have a fresh flowers in my bedroom.

4. I'll sort out all my clothes and give away the ones I didn't use for the past 6 months.

5. I'll never, ever, again buy anything without trying it on first (except online shopping of course).

6. I'll travel more - first to the place I was going to go last summer - Paris.

7. This time I'll really learn to drive and buy a car. I will also continue my studies.

8. I'll take care of myself not only from the outside but also from the inside. I'll be my own best friend and stop putting myself into trouble. I'll stop surrender myself with a people who hurt me.

9. I'll be happy and stop looking back...

Yellow me beautifully

That's my xmas outfit. A dress I bought a while ago on Etsy and some simple accessories. I like to wear it while everyone else choose grey and black.

I spend xmas with Kris in Co. Galway where the snow isn't as big issue. Dublin's streets are full of snow and ice and sometimes it's impossible to walk without falling down. It's hard to wake up at 6am in such weather and run for a bus that may not come. At the moment I just enjoy these few days off I have. Especially because I spend them with a person that's close to my heart and I haven't seen for many weeks.

Oto mój świąteczny zestaw. Sukienka, którą kupiłam jakiś czas temu na Etsy i proste dodatki. Lubię nosić ją, gdy wszyscy wokół wybierają szarości i czernie.

Spędzam święta z przyjacielem w Co. Galway, gdzie śnieg nie jest tak wielkim problemem. Ulice Dublina są zaśnieżone i oblodzone i czasem niemożliwe jest przejście kilku metrów bez upadku. W taką pogodę ciężko jest wstawać o 6 rano i biec na autobus, który może nawet nie przyjechać. Cieszę się tymi kilkoma wolnymi dniami, które mam. Szczególnie, bo spędzam je z osobą, która jest mi bardzo bliska, a której nie widziałam przez wiele tygodni.

Favourite books - Peter Pan

My favourite book of all times is Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie. Tomorrow I start my new job and I need something to relax... The perfect way is a plate full of macaroons, doughnuts and pears with a glass of buttermilk together with a book that always makes me feel good. After reading it as a small girl I decided I'll never grow up...

It's snowing outside and it makes me think about x-mas and gifts for my loved ones. I promised myself it's the last time I spend x-mas without them... And talking about gifts - the perfect one for me would be an unlimited shopping in The Chapters bookstore! The truth is I like more shopping for books than for clothes...

Moją ulubioną książką jest 'Piotruś Pan' J. M. Barrie. Jutro zaczynam nową pracę i potrzebuję czegoś, aby się zrelaksować... Najlepiej z talerzem pełnym makaroników, pączków i gruszek ze szklanką maślanki razem z książką, która zawsze poprawia mi nastrój. Po przeczytaniu jej jako mała dziewczynka zdecydowałam, że nigdy nie dorosnę...
Za oknem pada śnieg, przez co zaczynam myśleć o świętach i prezentach dla najbliższych. Obiecałam sobie, że to ostatni raz, gdy spędzam święta bez nich. A propos prezentów - idealnym dla mnie byłyby nieograniczone zakupy w księgarni Chapters! Prawdę powiedziawszy wolę kupowanie książek od kupowania ubrań...

almost 9:00 - I was going to sleep at least until 10am today but those lovely cats didn't let me. And yes - I have a beautiful view from my window.

9:30am - I found a small package with some hair pins when I went downstairs to get something to eat.

about 10am - Breakfast! I have some time before going out to revise what I've learnt yesterday evening (I have an exam in December).

12am - The only reason why I left the house today was my dearest friend getting an award for her exam results. The venue took place in the Westbury Hotel. Congrats!

2pm - A quick picture (taken in the loo! very classy!) before other reason to get out - shopping! No, I didn't make any effort to look good today. And yes, I have fringe. Hell, why not?

3pm - Grafton Street, Dublin.

4.30pm - Chai tea and hot chocolate in Insomnia.

7.30pm - Back at home and spending some time with my new fabrics. This one will be a dress.

11.30pm - Time to go to sleep. But first a few pages of a book I bought a few weeks ago.

A few things

I wasn't shopping lately. My whole life concentrates around work (different shift every week so it's almost impossible to plan anything) so I don't have time and patience to hunt for new season's clothes. I only step into the shop from time to time if my eyes catch something or to make myself a small treat. Like today - I made a new piercings and it was so painful that I just had to buy some small gift for myself. There's nothing better than new underwear so I visited La Senza store and bought these:

Here's something I think everyone is going to have this autumn. A forest animal's themed jewellery from H&M. These rings are so cute that I just had to buy them together with matching earrings.. Well, you can't always be 100% original, can you?

While looking for something suitable to put under the rings I found my old cross-stitch book. I may use these patterns to make a dress packets for autumn collection in my shop. I still have a lot of floral fabrics I want to use first but there'll be definitely something with forest theme too.

I also want to share my latest Etsy find - YouStinkSoap shop. I bought there these heavenly smelling solid perfumes - Pink Birthday Cake (syrupy sugar, vanilla, cotton candy, musk and light florals) and Of Consenting Age (toasted sugar, woods, fresh herbs and spices amid a heart of patchouli, licorice, French lavender, heliotrope and coriander; bottom notes of bergamot, mandarin, star anise and fresh ginger). I've also got a sample size cranberry&lime soap. I didn't think that such combination can be so tempting. The perfumes are small enough to fit any handbag and I just can't stop sniffing them. I love finding new perfumes and am greedy for everything sweet and sugary at the moment.

If someone lives in Co. Galway and is looking for good Indian cuisine - I can recommend Santoor restaurant in Oranmore. We went there for dinner last weekend and will definitely come back. Everything was delicious. The place is very quiet, perfect for romantic evening.

Yellow Tulip Dress

My new (old) dress bought from Sartorial Splendor. Its batik print and juicy colour immediately caught my eyes. Some of the leaves look like small hearts. I'm going to fight usual winter colour palette with bright and vibrant yellow, pink, red, green, blue and any colour other than black and grey. It's impossible to avoid them but I'm going to add something different this time. I also have to wear the same boring work uniform for 5 days a week and I miss my girly dresses so much. I try to personalise it by some jewellery and different hairstyles but it's still not the same. So I buy more dresses to cheer me up :) At least I can be myself at the weekend.

8:00am - Waking up at 8am as I want to work on some dresses today (even thought it's my weekend and I should sleep until afternoon)

8:30am - Choosing a fabric for the dress. I decide to take first one from the top to make romantic 'English garden' cocktail dress. Later I'll use brown polka dot fabric to make 'Pretty Woman' inspired dress.

9:30am - Time for breakfast! I can work for whole day without eating anything but not today. I have cinnamon & raisin bagels with raspberry and strawberry jam and a large glass of milk.

11:00am - I finally get a book I've been waiting for - '200 projects to get you into fashion design' by Adrian Grandon & Tracy Fitzgerald (I love it!) and more fabrics.

1:00pm - Time for lunch! I take Kris to our local pub O'Gradys. I'm not that hungry after eating all these bagels for breakfast but Kris doesn't mind helping me out with my roast lamb.

3:00pm - I come back home later than I wished as I went to the healthy food store to buy a small gift for my friend. I won't tell what it is. It's raining and I forgot my umbrella. I'm not in a mood yet to finish the dresses so I play with a small baby blue beaded pouch I've got from my work colleague. It's handmade by her cousin from Philippines. I was going to keep there my lipstick but unfortunately it's too small. It's however perfect for a coins.

5:30pm - I came back to the dresses after taking pictures of blue pouch. I work until evening with a short brake for more sweets. I bought them a day before at street market. I have here delicious brownie, maple & jam mini tart and toffi, peanut & pistachio fudge. I share them with Kris. I need to buy more next time. We also ride to the Coole Park to take some pictures of me.

7:30pm -Both dresses are almost ready.

8:00pm - We watch movie and I have more food. Kris doesn't want greasy (burnt) burger before going to the bed so I eat mine alone. I usually don't eat that much in one day but it's the weekend, I don't like cooking and didn't eat much during past week in Dublin. We watch Roger Moore's 'Bowling for Columbine' movie - I know, it's perfect movie for romantic stay-in evening.

Lavender Summer

New job in Dublin means no holiday this year, no college, no dog's adoption and travelling 200km every week to spend a weekend at home. It also means making less clothes for my shop as I don't want to move all my stuff with me. I have so many new lovely fabrics and ideas and feel sick that I can't do anything with them. Maybe in a few weeks time I'll take my sewing machines to Dublin anyway. I just need to settle down, meet all my friends I haven't seen in months, organise new school and get used to new job. It's another proof I shouldn't plan anything ahead and get too comfortable as everything can change in another few months. Changes are good and keep life interesting. I forgot about this dress a long, long time ago. This weekend I decided to put some of my clothes for sale on eBay and found it while getting through all staff in my wardrobe. I actually put it on sale but now think I'll keep it. I can wear it in the office and for night out and it goes well with the rest of my clothes.

We went to see Inception. I really enjoyed this movie. I especially liked Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character. I've seen him before in Mysterious Skin and (500) Days of Summer. Does anybody remember him from 3rd Rock from the Sun? It was my favourite sitcom when I was a teenager. Something tells me he'll get Oscar one day.

I liked more a part of this movie that happens inside the school building. The morning toilette, girl washing her face in water full of fresh flowers, girls helping each other with putting on the corsets, poetry reading, etc. I like to admire pretty items and small details like porcelain figures, lace curtains, clocks, picture frames. I'm looking for new (used) car to get to work when there's no public transport and make pickled cucumbers. I read book about fairies and drink a lot of chai tea. I have one of those days when you want to do everything at once.

I was doing new pictures for my shop yesterday in my new favourite spot. I upgraded some of the dresses - they got new bows or crochet appliques. I think they look better than before. Green parrot dress was bought this morning so it worked. My new favourite is the last one - with red and golden apples. Cream flower appliques gave it new boho feeling and it looks perfect with vintage leather belt. I'm going to keep it for myself if it doesn't sell...I can see it in many summer and winter combinations.

American Style Apple Pie

Recipe (by Garth McColgan found at Aldi leaflet)

For the pastry:

225g plain flour
45g caster sugar
100g butter (cold and cut into 1cm pieces)
zest of half lemon
1 egg yolk
3-4 tbsp water
pinch of salt

For the filling:

6 Granny Smith apples (peeled, cored and cut into thin slices)
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
3 tbsp demerara sugar

For glaze topping:

1 egg yolk
1 tbsp water

For lemon syrup:

20ml lemon juice
60ml water
20g caster sugar

Pastry:

Sieve the flour into a large bowl
Add the sugar, salt and zest and mix well with finger tips
Bit-by-bit using your finger tips work the butter into the flour mix to form a crumb-like texture
Add the egg yolk and the water mixing all the time until the mixture comes together in a ball (mine was sticky)
Wrap in a cling firm and leave in the fridge for 30min to chill
Cut the pastry into two, lightly flour the surface and roll out pastry not thicker than 1/4cm to fit a 23cm pie tin/plate
Reserve the other sheet for the top of the pie

Filling:

Prepare the apples and lemon zest as above
Put into large bowl with the sugar and cinnamon and toss
Spread the sliced apple mixture evently around the base
Top with the remaining sheet of pastry, tuck it in at the sides and trim with a sharp knife (I just folded it)
To glaze, mix the egg yolk and water together and, using pastry brush (which I don't have so I just used a spoon) spread the mixture evenly on top of the sliced apple mixture
Bake in pre-heated oven at 190°C / Gas Mark 5 for 30-40min until cooked and golden brown on top

Lemon syrup:

Put the lemon juice, water and sugar into a small pot and bring to the boil
Boil for 3-4min until sugar dissolves and serve hot or cold

It's very easy and you don't need a lot of ingredients! Enjoy!

(it's not that easy to remove first piece when the pie is hot!)

Look what I've got in the post. I like especially the one with a horses. It looks like 4 different patterns printed on 1 fabric. And on the left side there's a flower pattern that isn't visible on the right side.

After few days of stagnation I again have energy for sewing. So I did this dress. I'm egoist this time and I'm keeping it for myself. It's a bit Japanese with this white blossom and birds. Anyway it reminds me of Japanese art. Call me boring but I again cut out heart at the back.

I'm going to take one step further and make an apple pie! There's recipe in Aldi's leaflet every week (yeah I'm Aldi girl) and I found one from few weeks ago while cleaning up the kitchen. It looks all I need are apples, flour, butter, eggs and sugar to make it so why not. Watch out this space as I'll be proudly showing my pie to everybody who steps into my blog if it ends up nice.

I miss the time when I could spend a whole summer with my grandparents in the countryside. A full 2 months running in the forest, eating wild berries and blackberries for desert, young potatoes with curd for dinner, making garlands out of daisies and dandelions, playing with young puppies and kittens. There was always something to do and I was sad every time I had to come back home and to school. When I think about the best time in my life, I always see my grandma and grandpa and their small cottage. This dress reminded me about that time. It's full of small wild berries and white blossom. It has simple line and large red bow. It's similar to the dresses I used to wear during summer.

I knew I can make something really extraordinary out of this vintage fabric. I was going to make one full skirt dress but decided to divide it and make mini dress and a skirt. It's in a really beautiful blueish, greenish and greyish shades, with a lot creeping flowers, bluebells and Victorian children. There's a crying boy comforted by other boy and a girl giving him an apple, mother cuddling her small child and a little girl with a flowers in her apron. I added a pink lace stripe, a belt in similar colour, and a bow that can be removed and worn as brooch / pin. The fabric is stiff so the skirt keeps its shape without petticoat. It's now in my shop.

How to make a clothing labels

I was looking for a way to make my own labels to mark the clothes and accessories I make. The best option was to print them on a printable fabric, but unfortunately I wasn't able to get it. Therefore I made them this way:

You need:

iron-on transfer paper
printer
ribbon (I had a thick cotton grey ribbon but a simple satin will be ok too)
scissor

First you need to design your own label. I used Paint but any other program will do. Before printing it on iron-on paper check on normal paper if the size is correct.

Print your design in a mirror format (in Paint - flip horizontal). That's how it should look like:

Cut out the labels.

Place a towel on a hard surface (not ironing board as it's too soft to apply enough pressure during application!). Next place the cut out pieces on a ribbon (your design needs to lay face down)

Iron the ribbon for about a minute to ensure that all transfer is bonded onto it

Wait a few minutes until everything cools down and peel off the backing paper

Cut into small pieces and TA DA!

Here's yet another dress with cut out heart at the back. This time a bit longer and with darker fabric. I named it 'Poems'. It's a beautiful Tricky song. He's one of my favourites musician from many years. I think I first heard him when my older brother played his CD. I was lucky to see his concert in May last year. That's what I call a real vintage! Over 30 years old velour skirt! I shown it before but at crappy pictures. My granny said my mom was wearing it in high school. Saved from burning and shortened, it's now one of my favourite pieces. I don't wear it that much as I don't want to damage it or anything. It's still in perfect condition and I want it to stay this way.

I'm working on new dress at the moment. It'll have cut out heart at the back as the last one and a million notes printed all over. I think it's very cute. I will be also adding some new flower hair-pins too. I was cross-stitching them while watching 'Father Ted', a hilarious Irish comedy about catholic priests leaving at remote island. Unfortunately, there will be no more episodes due to the death of Dermot Morgan who played the leading role...Anyway, I was kept entertainment and could finally finish this work.

I was told I look like a local, Irish girl (maybe because most of the people think Polish girls are platinum blondes?). In the past I've heard I look like Italian (??), Hungarian and well...Uma Thurman :) And like hobbit - when I cut my hair a few years ago. The happiest I was when I was told I look like Tori Amos! It was when I had a red hair. It's funny how you change over the years. My mom says I still look like a teenager (thanks Mom!). When I was 13, after reading 'Peter Pan' (my fav book), I decided I'll never grow up. I did but deep in my heart I'm still a little girl...
Today I wore a Top Shop 'Beetle Juice' trousers I bought a few years ago. Sometimes they're too tight for me (when I'm too fat) but fit perfectly at the moment. I've added blue brooches and headband (made by me), red heels and grey top I've stolen from my mom.

New Dresses - 'My Sweet Prince' and 'Little Girl Blue'

I decided I'll name my dresses by the songs I listen while sewing. So these 2 I've named by Placebo's 'My Sweet Prince' and Janis Joplin's 'Little Girl Blue'. It's getting warmer and it's lovely outside so I have a lot of energy and head full of new ideas. I first thought how to use crochet hearts I've done at our weekly crochet meetings. They're small enough to sew them into a pockets and fit perfectly with a cream and floral fabric. This time I wanted to make something very sweet and special so I also cut out a heart at the back. I'm very happy with the result and am going to make more dresses of this kind. Similar dress with cut out heart could be seen at Luella's spring/summer 2010 collection. The second dress is blue and cream and floral. I think it'll be perfect for any season. The fabric reminds me of renaissance and old paintings. I kept it simple. I didn't want to make it too sweet. I've used cream crochet collar for the photoshots but somebody else can wear it with different accessories and create more edgy look.

Pink and A Challenge

It's definitely not my lenght so I'm going to shorten this skirt. I thought it'll be perfect set for current weather - not too warm, not too cold, but I felt a bit like an old granny.... Maybe it just needs a petticoat. I'll wait until I buy it to check how the skirt looks like. I was going to match it with a plain white shirt but I didn't want to look too formal so decided that the pink one will be better. I also added old leather belt with oriental ornament, small vintage handbag and suede shoes with a bow.

To be honest, I don't like the town I live in. I miss a big city. I came here in winter and everything was dark and grey and ugly. So I challenged myself to find one place I like every week. Below is my first place - it's a small glade I pass almost every day when I walk to town. Sometimes there's also a white pony! It may look like a cottage but there's a busy road at the other side and it's actually somebody's garden.

It was so hot today. I didn't eat anything for a whole day and was drinking water instead. I don't remember when we had such good weather. I went to Galway this morning to take my driver theory test (passed!) and then for some shopping. I bought a huge (huge!) yarns in red and blue for my new project and some clothes that I don't really need but, well - they were on sale. Below is my new red apple dress. I didn't decide yet if I want to sell it. I'm going to make more sewing tomorrow as I didn't have time for it this week - I had to study for my test. This sequin skirt was buried in my wardrobe for ages. It's cold today and I needed something yellow and bright to cheer me up. My Etsy shop is up and running and I'll be adding more items this week. I'm working on a lovely flower cross stitch headbands and brooches. Some of them are so pretty that I'll feel sad to let them go. May will be a busy month for me. I have my first part of exam (accounting) this week and at the end theory test for driving licence. I look forward for having my own car as it's almost impossible to get anywhere without one. Especially in the early morning. Public communication isn't best where I live now.

Red Waitress Dress

10 seconds. That's how long it took my boyfriend to take these pictures. So they're not of best quality. So don't complain please. The dress looks like a waitress uniform from 1950s. It can't be seen on the pictures but the fabric is a bit shiny. It was windy and it's very short so I had a problem with keeping my modesty...I'm not sure nobody seen my underwear...Well, never mind. We found a tiny café with tasty quiches but unfortunately I don't remember its name. I'm going to make it my often place to go for a tea when I'm in Galway, though. After doing what we had to we went for some shopping and I found a lovely boxes looking like old floral books. I bought 2 of different size and am going to keep my needleworks inside. I know I shouldn't buy more things but I can't help myself when they talk to me (like clothes to Ewa). It's rainy and dark today so I'll post a pictures of them at some other time.

5 things at the moment

1. Crochet

My dear colleague Ewa taught me how to use crochet hook and I love it. I've done my first (small) napkins and am looking for collar patterns. I'm working on a few dresses at the moment and want to add some decorative Victorian collars. Ewa is very talented and showed me her works - she has to open her own Etsy shop and start selling them! I'm sure a lot of people would like to have those amazing table clothes and all other items she makes.

2. Cross stitch

like crochet and cross stitching the same and try to share my time between both these things. I have so many ideas for clothes, accessories and jewellery and not enough time to make them all! I make my crochet items in the morning and before I go to sleep, and cross stitch/embroidery plus all other projects during the day.

3. Cleaning

Yes - cleaning. I was working in my studio without break for the past few days and had to clean all the mess I did. I need more space! More shelves and drawers to keep all my beads, fabrics, buttons, books, ready and half finished clothes and all other very important things.

4. Muffins

I didn't like muffins until I learnt how to make them myself. Now I bake them almost every day and experiment with different fillings. Well, that means I'll probably get bored by them very soon!

5. Back to school

I decided to finish my education and make accounting course. I'm making some course at the moment but it'll last just 10 weeks. I want something more serious and this morning my invitation for information evening for adult learners arrived. I was thinking about fashion design but it's something I can do without having any studies. Being accountant will keep me employed and well paid and I'll be able to do what I really love in my free time without stress that I have no money to pay my bills. I hope it's the right decision and I won't regret it in a few years time.

I will be making new pictures tomorrow in Galway so expect new post very soon!

I'm not in a mood for anything. Saturday was the last day for my dog. She was 17 years old but I don't believe it was her time yet. I can't believe she's gone and I think about her over and over again. I always thought I'll come back home and take care of her when she gets very old. I didn't... Her name was Tina. She was the best dog in the world...

When a Night Becomes a Day

On the way back home on Sunday we decided to check what is on the mountain in Silvermines. We walked in a beautiful Knockanroe Forest, admired a view of the town and took some pictures. It was pipping hot (19 degrees!) and so bright that it was difficult to make a good picture. I had to hide in shade. I really forgot how it is when it's so hot you don't want to move and just lay in hammock and drink ice tea. I was wearing my Asos sequin skirt that I've shown here already. I've added it to my everyday clothes. It's so dressy that too much accessories could make the whole set too exaggerated so I only added horse necklace watch and rose belt.
Last week I started to make my first cross stitch design. It takes so much time! It's a rose and I'm thinking now how to use it. Maybe I'll sew it on a summer dress or stick it on a notepad. I've seen really pretty cross stitch flowers made into finger rings. I'd love to make something like this myself. If anyone knows any website with DIY jewellery projects - please share it with me. I also found someone who will teach me how to crochet. It's so exciting. It would be lovely to know a few people with creative souls and DIY skills to meet regularly and share ideas and knowledge. Something like housewives club. Maybe it'll materialise in the future.

A tragedy happened on Saturday when a plane crashed with my homeland's president, Lech Kaczynski, his wife Maria and 94 other state officials. It's hard to believe and very sad time. I really liked our First Lady, her warm smile, modesty and elegance.

I spend a lot of time with my sewing machine lately. My last baby is this navy velvet skirt. I'm thinking about adding petticoat underneath for fuller shape. I mixed it with magenta ruffle top. In previous life it was Quinn and Donnelly's dress found in secondhand shop.
It's Easter but I don't celebrate. For me it's day like any other. I lost desire to celebrate any religious holiday when I moved to Ireland. It's just not the same anymore.

I didn't wear a lot. Just comfy dress, sandals and hat (it was very very hot and my skin don't see much sun in Ireland so I had to protect at least my face from burning). I didn't care about make-up or how I look. I was just relaxing and soaking up the sun, eating fresh fruits and spending time with my family. It's my grandparent's place and I used to spend there every summer. I miss those days...

Alice in Wonderland and Marshmallow Mermaid Pie

Firstly, I finally remade the skirt I bought a few years ago. Originally it was below-knee long and I used to wear it at work. I really hate every skirt/dress which isn't over the knee but there was a strict dress code and I didn't have many work clothes. As you see I cut it dramatically and added stiff tulle underneath. It's now very airy and short and he likes it. It had its premier yesterday when we went to see Alice in Wonderland. It was windy in the evening and I had to hold it all the way from parking to the cinema. I also made a braid similar to what I've seen at Elie Saab Spring Haute Couture show. It'll be my favourite hairstyle of this season.

Secondly, I've learned how to make The Marshmallow Mermaid Pie. 'Waitress' movie is still one of my favourite. I was always thinking but never really did any pie from this film. I have now much more time and no excuses so I run through my recipes collection (yes - I used to hate cooking but I collect recipes) and choose the ones I want to try. I'm often surprised how easy it is and how less ingredients is needed.

Marshmallow Mermaid Pie

Ingredients:

9 graham crackers
1/2 C. sweetened, flaked coconut, toasted
5 Tbs. butter or margarine, melted
34 lg. marshmallows (8 oz.)
1/2 C. whole milk
1 1/2 C. heavy or whipping cream
1 oz. unsweetened chocolate, grated

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Combine coconut and graham crackers in food processor until coarse crumbs form.
2. Combine crumbs and butter with fork. Press to bottom and side of 9-inch pie plate. Bake 10 minutes and cool on wire rack.
3. Heat marshmallows and milk in 3-qt. saucepan over low heat until smooth, stirring constantly. Remove saucepan from heat. Cool completely (30 minutes.)
4. In large bowl with mixer at medium speed, beat cream until stiff peaks form. Fold marshmallow mixture into whipped cream with grated chocolate. Spoon filling into cooled crust. Refrigerate pie at least 3 hours or overnight.
5. Top with mini marshmallows, maraschino cherries and rainbow sprinkles.

Finally, I have to say something about Alice in Wonderland movie. I've heard so many negative comments about it but for me it's wonderful. Ask adults and they will always find a reason to complain. Ask children and they will be pleased. For me going to the cinema is like running to the other world. I can stay in the cinema for whole day and watch movie after movie. Alice in Wonderland is one I will be happy to come back to. It's magical and beautiful. I'd love to see it again and again.

There's many thinks I like and dislike about Ireland. I call this country my home from almost 6 years. At my other blog I wrote about Celtic Jewellery. It's one of the thinks I like. I also like that it seems to be so natural and clean. Not in the cities, though. I'm talking about the countryside. It's green and fresh, and you can really forget that it's the 21st century. You can relax just by looking through the window. Of course I wouldn't like to spend my whole life in a countryside. But it's nice to know that when you're tired by the city rush and stress, there's different world just 30min away.
And that's my Ria Roberts Bambi dress I bought on-line. Almost impossible to get at the moment.
I'm thinking about cutting my hair. I had them that long maybe 15 years ago.

Fighting with the Sun

No, I'm not sad on this picture. The sun was very strong (jupi!) and I was just struggling not to close my eyes. The dress is almost 10 years old and still fits me! It's my perfect LBD. Maybe a bit twisted in the picture but I spent some time sitting in a car. We went to Galway and it felt so good to have Monday off. I made a small shopping and just walked the streets, feeling the spring. In the evening we watched 'Descent 2' and it's really the last time I was watching anything about eating a humans and going underground. I also did more cinnamon rolls and I'm going to try bake something else this week.

Cinnamon Rolls

nspired by Hollin from Vim and Verve blog, I've done my own cinnamon rolls. I'm a really bad cook and I wouldn't even try if there was too many complicated ingredients. After checking what we have already I just had to buy a few thinks and didn't use vanilla pudding mix - to be honest I couldn't find it so just went on without it. I have to say my rolls are really tasty and I'm going to make them more often. I would recommend Hollin's recipe even for somebody with basic knowledge about cooking (like me). The only problem is that next day they were hard as stone. Next time I'm going to make less. My boyfriend called them 'cynamonki'.

And that's how I look today. The dress if from Asos and I wear it with baroque-style rose printed tights and heart shaped necklace watch.

Day After Day

We had a great weather today so I did some gardening (herbs) and had enough energy to start a mint green satin skirt after doing my homework for payroll course. I hope it'll be ready soon. There's a St. Patrick's Day next week and we plan to make a party for our friends. Last year I worked on a night shift and remember how I struggled to sleep while other people had a great time in a pub under my bedroom's window. No more living in a city centre!
It's my yesterday's outfit. Nothing is new. I found this embroidered nude skirt in a second-hand shop a few years back. The brooches are pretty old too. Especially the one with a blue flowers. Shoes came from Asos. I don't use them much and this time I broke the golden rule to not wear a peep-toes with a tights.

Women's Day

It's a Women's Day today. The tradition in Poland is that every woman gets a carnation. Usually red. I didn't remember about it until I've got a text message from my boyfriend mom. I didn't make any pictures of how I looked today but I'm adding a picture made a few days ago. I've sold similar dress and the buyer asked me how it looks on a person. I didn't expect to show it to anybody else so I'm make-up free! I like this dress as it nicely highlights body shape.

By the way - I'm going to learn crochet. I forgot to take necessary accessories last time I was at home (my sister prepared them for me as she knows how to do it and what is needed) so I'm going to buy something on-line. I have no idea where to start so I'll be looking for some easy tutorials. There should be something on You Tube. I you have any suggestions for me or can recommend any video or website - please do so.

Sligo Girl

This Friday we went to Sligo. He for work, me to keep him company. I've spent few hours in this building surfing the internet, reading magazines and eating huge fatty sandwiches:

I didn't realise that the beach is so close to the airport! Next time I'm going to spend there a whole day instead of just sitting on my ass for so many hours. I wouldn't go at all if there wasn't internet access. We didn't stop in Sligo village for long (just for the night in a hotel) as we were there a few years back. We wanted to visit one great Indian restaurant but it was unfortunately closed...Maybe we'll try to find another one next time.

And that's how I looked. Yes, I'm wearing this belt with everything all the time. It's just perfect.
I also dropped his camera a few days ago. I hoped nothing happened and it worked with no problem. While making these pictures he heard some creaking sound... so I had to admit I did it. I hope it's just the lens (because lens is cheaper than the camera and I know I'll have to buy him new one). Otherwise I'll have to go back to my small camera that doesn't make as good pictures.

Take Me to the Gotham City

I just finished my 'Gotham City' skirt. It's longer than I planned and without lace at the bottom but at least it's ready. I'm not going to spend even 1 min more with it. I want to move forward now and start some new projects I have in my head. I used a piece of fabric with Batman print that I bought on eBay and red satin as lining. It can be worn as shorter or longer (I like the shorter version more). I'll make more skirts to practice (from fabrics below) and then I'll try to make a dress. I'd like it to be 1950s style dress made from white or cream lace but with my talent and laziness it may not happen for a long time.

Bottle Green Satin

I'm trying to finish my 'Gotham City' skirt. I started it in December...Each time it was 'finished' I wasn't happy with the result and started everything all over again. Two weeks ago I decided I have to have a red satin lining and had to wait for it to arrive (I also bought mint green, black and red colour). And now I don't have any more excuses and promised myself to finally finish it next week. I think about it all the time and it haunts me every time I enter my study room. I have to do something with this sad wall too. I can't paint it because it's rented house but think that maybe some nice picture or large poster will do. I was searching for something on eBay. Something like big naked Vin Diesel or Jason Statham poster...hmm....

My New Romance

With a self-timer of course. My photographer is gone (again) so I had to fix something myself. And that's why my feet are cut and light is bad. It's just my normal outfit. Black. I'm making a big clear-out of my clothes this spring and going to invest more in colours. I'm always (always!) buying black clothes so it'll make huge difference if some of them are gone and colours are in. The first step was to buy pink floral mini dress from Asos. I also think about selling my collection of vintage jewellery pieces. I'll be sad if they're gone but there's so many of them that I just don't remember anymore what I do and don't have. And I finish with buying something similar to what I have already.

I'm not wearing red today

It's Valentine's Day but I'm not wearing red. Instead I've chosen my shiny asos dress in royal blue. We were going to see some movie but there's nothing interesting in the cinema at the moment. I was thinking about 'Valentine's Day' because it could be fun to watch it today (read: because I love Taylor Lautner) but we didn't want to wait 1,5h. And then we were going to see a castle I used to pass on my way from Dublin to Galway but it turned out to be some private property. And I'm sure I've seen different castle but I don't remember where was it exactly. Anybody knows where is a beautiful castle in Co. Galway. It was somewhere near Galway and I think there was Santa Claus for kids last December?

DIY - Socks Inspired by Miu Miu

I'm such idler. I was going to make socks similar to this one from months. They were in my head from a while but I never started. And what I see on other blogs - not only in my head. I found a moment now and just did it. I needed some sequins, seed beads, needle...It was almost impossible to get black/silver/metalic flower-shaped sequins. The one ordered on eBay never came. It's not a good time to buy on-line before x-mas though. I like the nude socks more but well...you need to use what you have. Of course mine weren't going to look as pretty as the original ones and I wanted more colours so I didn't even try to copy them. It was about inspiration and not copying so I used a lot of colorful beads and stones and just sewned them in a different shapes. I thought that there's no need for even more colours so just wore them with a simple black dress and no accessories.

My New Fragrances

I spent this weekend with my friends near Dublin and it wouldn't be the same without shopping with M. I bought a few things but they're not what I want to write about. Today it will be all about fragrances. My partner promised me a new perfumes so I had to check if I still like Narciso Rodriguez For Her. No, I don't. Instead, I want a Flowerbomb by Viktor and Rolf. It's perfect and has everything I like: freesia, rose, jasmine and patchouli. It's very sweet and feminine.

And I just couldn't stop myself from buying 30ml bottle of Glamour by Moschino with a lip-shaped clutch bag at discounted price. I've also got 20ml bottle of Dior's Addict from M. It's too heavy for her so I've got almost a whole bottle. I could bath in this fragrance. I like to wear oriental, spicy perfumes not only for the evening but for everyday. I used it before going to the bed and slept with my hand sticked to the nose. In the morning the fragrance was still around me and it was just delightful to wake up.

Leather and The Road

My cinema outfit. In the leading role a leather skirt bought in SH. Not everything can be seen on these pictures, like my long emerald earrings or that the stockings' seam is embroidered by golden needle.

I've heard about 'The Road' movie about 2 years ago. We didn't know any details, we didn't know who's going to perform. The movie is amazing and emotional. It's based on Cormac McCarthy’s novel which won Pulitzer Prize. It tells a story about a journey taken by an unnamed father (Viggo Mortensen) and his unnamed son (Kodi Smit-McPhee) across America ruined by an unknown cataclysm that destroyed civilization and most life on earth. I think myself what would I do if I were in the movie's characters shoes. Would I eat people or commit suicide to not end up in somebody's shady pantry? I wouldn't recommend it for kids because of some scenes. The story ends in the same mysterious, disturbing way and without easy answers like it starts. Viggo Mortensen should be at least nominated to the Oscars.

Pink in The Forest

A bit late but I decided to take part in Timex contest. Below is the dress/tunic made by myself and inspired by one of the watches. I've chosen dusty pink colour, lace and collar trimmed by pearls as these elements seem to be the most delicate for me. Pictures were made in Ireland. Without snow and sunny, but it was freezing. I had to run for my coat every few moments. And that's why I was making faces!

Through the Rabbit's Hole

I was changing places 5 times over 5 years. I'll be doing it again soon. We're happy as we've found nice house and finally there will be only two of us. It's not my/our last move. I don't want to tie to one place because I know I won't stay here forever. I admit that I sometimes miss Dublin and the year spent in Mulhuddart. I've had the best house mates and really became attached to them. A few months ago I moved to the other end of Ireland and my life here looks completely different. Slower, without cinema card, without my friends and parties. Before I lived for myself, now we're together. I hope to come back to Dublin one day. A life in the countryside is good till some moment and I'm a city animal.

Below a pictures made at the same day as in previous post. I've chosen the place and heard that there's no light, that pictures for sure won't look good. At home we realised that they look amazing. In previous post I was compared to Alice in Wonderland and have to admit that on these pictures I really look like her.

The Morning After

It's really the afternoon after, because that's when we came back home. Before New Year there was no time to take pictures as the sun came down quickly. And because it's the next day, my make-up was gone. We spent the night with our friends. There's no need for a lot in a good companionship. It's new year so it's time for new year's resolutions. I won't cheat myself with something what will never happen, like that I'll loose weight. I want to make driving license and read all the books I always wanted but never had time.

There's my x-mas gift on the pictures - faux fur - and proven set, which means sequined skirt from asos and simple, black blouse with wide belt. I don't like overstatement and usually build all set around one thing. I was going to wear something different but I felt most comfortable with these clothes.

Day Like Any Other

We've spent these x-mas very unconventional, that is traditional. For the past few years we were happy with just Chinese take away or anyhow eaten dinner. We didn't have x-mas tree and didn't care about x-mas atmosphere. It's good to work in x-mas, there're a lot of overtimes so I didn't mind staying for longer. This time we've got an invitation from K.'s sister. There was so much tasty food that I just didn't want to move out from the table. I've got maybe 10 different salads for the way back home. We are usually irritated by the small kids but this time we didn't mind, it was very nice and good atmosphere. And by the way it was good to see all the faces I didn't see for a few years. As a gift I've got lovely faux fur and mini green house. And few other things which I maybe show later. I don't want to check my weight to not loose good mood. The weather is very Irish - cold and rainy. I'm so happy that I don't have to take the bus anymore and wait at the bus stop for ages. This way I can wear thin tights and mini skirts.

Blue

As you can see, there was a butterfly in my hair originally. Unfortunately, a wing broken off while I was trying a jumper in the shop. And I've just hooked on to my bag- coffret. It's my favourite currently. I just hate to move all my stuff from bag to bag, so it'll stay my favourite for few weeks at least. We went for pre-Christmas shopping. I had to choose my present. I did a while ago - leopard's coat from New Look. I wanted such coat from a long time but always thought that it's trashy at the end. There was a nice promotion - that you'll get 3rd cheapest item for free so I've also got pink jumper and sequin shorts. I'll show them one day here. I'll also get a sprouter. I've seen some in K. mother's flat and want the same.

We then went to Eddie Rockets (because it was the only place in that area where we could get something warm and greasy, and we had to wait 2h for the movie) and to see Avatar directed by James Cameron. Wow! Excellent movie with a positive message.

Alice in...Rainland

I thought about Alice in Wonderland while watching these ready pictures. Blue dress, loose hair, red headband...We've had another day looking more like Polish early spring, than late Autumn. Which means frostily but sunny. Perfect weather to go for a walk and make some pictures.

That's my first 'wardrobe campaign'. The pictures were taken in the most beautiful town in Ireland - Ennis. They show my velvet skirt inherited from mum. So it's over 30 years old. It was originally calf-length, but it didn't suit me. It has trapeze line, but of course it can't be seen here. I had to roll it up high to squeeze inside. Mum what was your weight?? 40kg?? There's brooch from grandma too. I've got it as a kid and had to stick some clasp - there was just a stone left. It looks like amber but it's just a plastic. Who knows how old it is?

Walking in the Coole Park

It's Sunday so it wouldnt' be the same without Sunday walk. We went to our local park, which is still flooded. And then for dinner to our local pub. I'm wearing vintage dress embroidered in roses which I found on eBay. I had to cut frill from the bottom as it was too long for me - I prefer over the knee lenght.
